2018 Scholarship Program Is Now Open

I am beyond thrilled to announce the 3rd annual More Than Yourself, Inc. scholarship application and essay contest is now open!

What is the More Than Yourself scholarship program?

Each year, the More Than Yourself ministry awards college scholarship funds to deserving young ladies from the East Texas area. (We believe in reaching out to bless our local community!) What makes us unique is that we offer these scholarships to 7th, 8th, and 9th grade girls. How wonderful for these girls to know they have money waiting for them to help with their first year of college! They also have people who believe in them. (That's us!)

How is the program funded?

A portion of the proceeds from my book Over It. Conquering Comparison to Live Out God's Plan supports the program. We have also received generous donations from friends of More Than Yourself, Inc. Every donated dollar goes straight into the fund, to be distributed among the winning applicants. We are truly blessed!

If you would like to contribute by purchasing a copy of the Over It book, visit the book page here.

How do you apply?

Visit the scholarship page here to download the application forms. Applications must be filled out, signed by a parent, and sent by mail to More Than Yourself, Inc.

How can I spread the word?

Earlier this year I had the honor of visiting with Proverbs 31 author and speaker Lynn Cowell. When I told her about our scholarship program, she generously donated a copy of her popular book, Magnetic, to our cause. What a sweet lady!

To enter for a chance to win your signed copy of Magnetic, visit our FACEBOOK POST and tag someone in the comments who might be interested in the program. Know any teachers or parents in the East TX area? Great, tag them! If not, tag yourself! That's allowed:)

The contest deadline is March 30th. Applications must be postmarked by that date. Thank you for supporting More Than Yourself, Inc. Recipients will be announced in May!

Blessings,

Kristine

How to Find the Best of Ourselves

“I’m sorry, but we need someone more qualified to lead the training.”

Insignificant. Invisible. I felt about two feet tall.

A few stellar reviews and plaques on the wall convinced me I had enough experience. I’d given myself the needed pep talk and applied for the position.

And with one sweeping sentence, all those accolades became as meaningless as the dust bunnies under my couch. Totally expendable, just like me.

I couldn’t give up though. I wouldn’t give up. If my best effort wasn’t good enough, then apparently, I could do more. So I resolved that day to do better, to be better. But in all that determination, I missed an important truth.

The truth about how to really be the best I could be.

“For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being.” Ephesians 3:14-16 ESV

My friend Jill Hoven invited me to join her at her website, FollowHisFootprints.org. I'd love to see you there! Click here to read the rest of today's devotion.

Blessings,

Kristine
